We have just returned from Moldova - Europe's poorest nation, number one supplier of the victims of human trafficking and organ harvesting. There was so much despair before our eyes - the half-crumbled homes, abandoned elderly people in state-run nursing homes, beggars in the streets and aimless young people who don't see other hope but to sell themselves in sexual slavery. Yet, there is so much hope for the nation of Moldova if it turns to Jesus!

Though there were just nine of us, we had over 3000 bibles for distribution. We passed them out in the streets, market places, villages, nursing homes, TB hospital and even...cemeteries. On Moldova's Memorial Day, as the families went to the graves of the loved ones with flowers and fruit, we distributed Bibles to those who were grieving and shared the Gospel with them.

When we came to minister at a hospital, it wasn't just the patients who wanted to hear the Gospel, but the doctors and the staff as well. One of the nurses Galena wept as she shared with us that her 13 year old daughter, Maria, would be receiving her last cancer treatment the following week, just ahead of her 14th birthday. This girl had suffered with cancer since she was five years old. The doctor said she had no chance of recovery. The mother wanted prayer. If God does not intervene this could be Maria's last birthday. We prayed for Maria and Galena and bought her a MP3 player loaded with an audio Bible. I believe that the Lord sent us there for this young girl to know that THERE IS HOPE when the world gives you NO HOPE. In a sense her situation was symbolic of the entire nation of Moldova - everybody has given up on the future of this country, even its own people. But with Christ there is always hope and a future.
We have witnessed over 50 salvations during our time in Moldova and pray that the 3000 Bibles we placed in the hands of the Moldovan people will continue to produce a rich harvest.
