History of World Missions Alliance

Through the transforming power of Christ's love, World Missions Alliance was born in 1999.

In 1992, Chuck Todd, an American missionary, and Helen, a Russian interpreter, met during the break-up of the former Soviet Union. While Chuck's personal experience with the power of Christ came through a miraculous healing when he was just three years old, Helen was touched by His love and grace as a result of a gospel tract that was smuggled into her homeland-the Soviet Union, a country well-known for its hostility to Christians. During the Moscow coup in 1993, Chuck saved Helen from the crossfire of the battle, and soon after they were married.

Today, Chuck and Helen minister side-by-side not only in the former Soviet Union, but in other hot spots around the world such as China, Iraq, India, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, and other countries. They have experienced unprecedented open doors and favor from both government and Christian leaders in the countries where they serve. They boldly minister in war zones in spite of attempted kidnappings and risk of death; they also have been able to reach out to victims of earthquakes, floods, epidemics and other natural disasters. Yet in each circumstance, they have been able to share the powerful message of the transforming power and love of Christ.

To Chuck and Helen, WMA is not just about their personal efforts to take the message of Christ's love and grace to the world. It is also about opening doors for hundreds of Christians in the US, Canada, and other countries to go and fulfill the Great Commission by participating in missions opportunities around the world.
