This picture is 11 years old, but the story behind it is vivid in my memory- first trip to China in 1999. The girl's name was Hong Mei. She was the worship leader at the church. My interpreter David was translating our conversation. Hong Mei's brother had been murdered. The following day she was to testify in the trial against the murderer. She asked me to pray that God would give her forgiveness. Her face was scrunched by the battle between pain and the resolve to forgive. I found myself at loss for words. I knew the right words to say, the right scriptures to quote.
