American Idol 2010 contestant to sing at VICTORIOUS: WMA CONFERENCE 2010
On March 25, 2010 at 7 p.m. at the Lodge of the Ozarks in Branson, MO an American Idol 2010 contestant Dave Pittman from Mountain Home, AR will sing and share his experience of fulfilling his dream in spite the challenges of living with Tourette's Syndrome.
Hearing "I thought you were terrific", from the infamously strict judge Simon Cowell is a dream for any American Idol hopeful. Dave Pittman from Mountain Home, Arkansas, faced an additional challenge in impressing the judges - he suffers with the neurological disorder Tourette's syndrome.
Tourette's syndrome causes facial and vocal tics but when Dave sings everything disappears except his remarkable voice. Pittman made it to the Hollywood round during the Dallas auditions when all four "Idol" judges - Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi and guest judge Neil Patrick Harris - voted for him. All four praised Dave's vocal talent.
Guest judge Neil Patrick Harris spoke up and addressed the "weird elephant in the room," asking Pittman if he had Tourette's. "I think you're crazy brave," Harris said. Dave Pittman made it through Round 1 in Hollywood but was cut in the group round. He found the experience with the American Idol life-changing, and became confident that the challenges that he is facing with his disease will not hold him back from fulfilling his dreams. He is currently in the process of recording his first album.
Dave Pittman's appearance in Branson is is a part of an inspirational theme of VICTORIOUS: WMA Conference taking place March 24-27, 2010 at the Lodge of the Ozarks in Branson, MO. Other speakers include bestselling author Mark Batterson, former Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Tamrat Layne and an Iraq War hero and elite athlete Jerrod Fields.
The event is open to the public. For more information call: 417-231-4131
